About Mowogo Lodge
Mowogo Lodge is the Order of the
Arrow Lodge of the Northeast Georgia
Council. The Lodge totem is the black
bear on all four legs. The Lodge has
seven Chapters
each affiliated with one district of the
Council. Mowogo is very much a youth
led Lodge. Read Chiefly Speaking from the 2009 Lodge
Chief and the Lodge Goals
that the youth leadership has set for the 2009 year.
Chiefly Speaking
My Brothers,
It is with the deepest feelings of respect and humility that I address you as Chief of Mowogo Lodge. For over 65 years, our lodge has carried on the strong principles of Brotherhood, Cheerfulness, and Service: the three foundations of the Order of the Arrow. 2009 has the potential to be another successful year, and the leadership of Mowogo is ready to accept any challenges along the way!
Equally important as its present, though, is our lodge’s possible future. Mowogo would certainly not be the lodge it is today without the contributions of former leaders who, during their tenure, thought to prepare for the future generations of Mowogo. This year, we as a lodge have a great opportunity to “leave a legacy” to be carried out by future Arrowmen. It is my commitment, as well as that of my fellow leaders, to ensure that this becomes reality.
But what opportunity do we have? What can be our “legacy?” This year, in attempt to strengthen the ties of unity which “bind us each to every other,” our lodge has taken a motto of “Outreach.” By making a concerted effort to involve new Arrowmen in every facet of the lodge, we hope to eliminate the “Sash and Dash” phenomenon, as well as increase Ordeal retention. It is our belief that, by imbedding a love of Mowogo and the Order of the Arrow in the future leaders of our lodge, we might bring about a brighter tomorrow to be enjoyed by Mowogo’s future generations.
It is my hope and desire that you, my brothers, will join me in reaching our goals. Together, it is possible for us to meet and exceed anything which is set before us. May God bless you all, and may God bless the future of our lodge…
Your 2009 Lodge Chief,
Davis Lacey
