Duties of the Lodge Committee Chairs

Administration Chair:

  1. The administration chair helps during check-in and check-out for events.
  2. Assist with checking people in as needed during events.
  3. Help make new member cards for each new ordeal member or brotherhood member to take home.

American Indian Affairs Chair:

  1. Plan and coordinate Indian Drum Activities
  2. Oversee the logistics, transport, and finances of the Mowogo Drum
  3. Work with ceremonies to include drumming in events
  4. Plan and coordinate Indian Dances
  5. Prepare Drum and Dance teams for Conclave Competitions

Brotherhood Chair

  1. Develop a plan to collect brotherhood requirements with the Lodge Vice Chief of Communications.
  2. Mail letters to all eligible Ordeal members explaining the requirements.
  3. Get a list from the Lodge Vice Chief of Communications of those who have met the Brotherhood requirements, and tell the trading post how many Brotherhood sashes the ceremony team will need.
  4. Plan and direct the brotherhood hike, including a plan for rain.
  5. Encourage all eligible Ordeal members to seal their membership.
  6. Encourage chapters to attain a high Brotherhood conversion percentage.
  7. Work with the Lodge Vice Chief of Membership to complete all duties.
  8. Coordinate Chapter Brotherhood Weekends with Chapter Chiefs and VCMs.

Ceremonies Chair:

  1. Works with Indian Engineers to set up Ceremonies
  2. Creates Ceremony teams for upcoming performances
  3. Set up Ceremonies and ensure the Ceremonialists are ready to perform
  4. Ensures that all Ceremonies and Indian affairs activities run smoothly

Elangomat Chair:

  1. Serve as the leader of Elangomats at all Ordeal functions; taking responsibility for all aspects of the Ordeal.
  2. Coordinate the training of elangomats before Ordeal functions.
  3. Keep track of which clan each candidate is in, and where those clans are sleeping, eating, or working.
  4. In charge of finding Elangomats for ordeal events and distributing which candidates go in what clan.
  5. Continuously check on the progress of the Ordeal and make adjustments as needed.

Food Services Chair:

  1. Organizes youth help and representation in the kitchen for events.
  2. They help keep the dining hall clean and ready for the next meal and instruct their staff on how to set up the dining hall.
  3. They make sure there is enough food on every table during meals with food being ordered on time and within budget.
  4. Oversee the Kitchen operation during the preparation of meals.

Founders Award Chair:

  1. Coordinates meetings to select one worthy youth-adult every year for the Founders Award
  2. Select Arrowmen who have shown the true spirit of the OA through their unselfish service and giving to others

Indian Engineers Chair

  1. Prepare all ceremony rings and trails and have necessary equipment.
  2. Ensure that all ceremony rings and trails are clean and safe.
  3. Make sure that all ceremony rings are left the way that they were found.
  4. Recruit more members to help work on the ceremony rings.
  5. Direct all Indian Engineers to help with the normal brotherhood projects when preparation of the rings and trails is complete.
  6. Report to the Vice Chief of Indian Affairs.

Museum Chair:

  1. Oversee the Mowogo Lodge Museum and its functions
  2. Lead and coordinate the Docent training and the Chapter workdays during Summer Camp
  3. In charge of moving and setting up displays for different events
  4. Promotes the Museum and visitors to the Lodge and Council

Newsletter Chair

  1. Provide the Lodge Vice Chief of Communications with articles and information for the Arrow points, Mowogo Monthly, and Reports.
  2. Encourage Chapters to submit articles for the Arrowpoints, Mowogo Monthly, and Reports.
  3. Help the Lodge Vice Chief of Communications print and distribute all Newsletters.
  4. Ensure that any Chapter Newsletters provide the necessary information and work to ensure they follow proper guidelines.

Ordeal Chair

  1. Serve as the Ordealmaster at all Ordeal functions; taking responsibility for all aspects of the Ordeal.
  2. Coordinate the training of elangomats before Ordeal functions.
  3. Keep track of which clan each candidate is in, and where those clans are sleeping, eating, or working.
  4. Continuously check on the progress of the Ordeal and make adjustments as needed.

Photography Chair:

  1. Manages the Lodge Photography team in taking pictures of events
  2. Collects and creates photo albums of events and ensures that they are accessible to Arrowmen.

Service Chair

  1. Develop a list of work projects based on the council’s needs.
  2. Get all materials needed to complete all projects.
  3. Compile a list of tools that brothers might need to bring to complete projects.
  4. Submit a list of special tools to the lodge Vice Chief of Communications that will be printed in the newsletter.
  5. Set up a central location where projects can be distributed to members along with detailed instructions on how to complete them.
  6. Have several helpers that can help direct other members on large scale projects.
  7. Check up on projects to see how they are progressing.

Social Media Chair:

  1. Manages and posts on the Lodge's Facebook and Instagram page
  2. Ensures frequent posts and interaction on Facebook and Instagram
  3. Works with the Photography Chair to create photo collages, reels, and stories for the Lodge Social Media's

Website Chair:

  1. Oversee the lodge website which includes links, OA resources, and up-to-date information about Mowogo events.
  2. Research and Provide any information that is not up-to-date
  3. Gather info to ensure new and useful changes that could be implemented into the website

Vigil Honor Selection Chair

  1. Supply members with nominations forms.
  2. Nominate members to receive the Vigil Honor.
  3. Coordinate the Vigil Member call-out ceremony.
  4. Direct the presentation of the new Vigil Members to the lodge.
  5. Coordinate all Vigil Member activities during the year.
