Lodge Leadership

Mowogo Lodge is led by a youth leadership committee called the Lodge Executive Committe (LEC). The members of the LEC are elected annually by their fellow Brothers. The LEC is presided over by the Lodge Chief and his Vice Chiefs.

Chiefly Speaking

I am honored with the privilege of being able to serve as the Mowogo Lodge chief in 2024. In 2023, I was able to serve as the Lodge Vice Chief of Membership, and it allowed me to gain insight into the lodge's current state, which, according to the National Order of the Arrow, we were labeled a "thriving" lodge. That is all thanks to you.

So while yes, I have goals and a vision for the lodge, ranging from the totems and the camping guide to developing new and more in-depth training for all of our Arrowmen, the key to success for our lodge is not about what I or any of the Lodge Executive Committee members do but rather what YOU do in the Order of the Arrow. I implore you to try stepping out of your comfort zone and taking on a role of responsibility, and if you are already in a leadership role, then push yourself to reach out to previously inactive members and get them to come to chapter and lodge events. In my mind, the role of a leader is to act as an inspiration for those who will come after you; this means making sure that you are setting the example, reaching out, and creating personal bonds with other Arrowmen so that they have the motivation and role model to be successful when it is their turn to serve.

On top of this, the Order of the Arrow is also supposed to be fun, so participate in games and fellowship, attend Conclave, design a patch, and do whatever you want to do because one of the biggest motivations for any human being is passion, and it is hard to be motivated to do something you don't like doing.

Serving as a leader and following your passions in the Order of the Arrow is how you can create lifelong memories and friends. 2024 is going to be an amazing year, and I cannot wait to see the new smiles and leaders that are born throughout this year. I hope to see you soon and often.

Yours in Service,

Alex Sutter
