Elangomat Training Next Weekend (3/9/24)

Hello Mowogo Lodge!

Next weekend at Scoutland, we will be holding an Elangomat Training!

The training will last from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. There is no cost for the training, but you will need to register online. Please also bring a water bottle, work gloves, work clothes, a notebook and pen, and a raincoat.

The only remaining date is:

March 9th - Scoutland (Craft Shack)

One of the most important pieces of our Ordeal weekends is the Elangomats. This is such a necessary role that has the potential to make or break the experience of the candidates.

The role of the Elangomat is simple - be a friend to the candidates. You serve with them throughout the day, staying silent, and eating little. It is an opportunity for you as an Arrowman to lead by example and demonstrate the cheerful service of our brotherhood.

Mowogo Lodge - Resgister for Conclave!

Brothers,

Our Section's Conclave in Paradise is coming up and the time to sign up is now!

The conclave will be held at Camp Lawhorn Scouting Base in Central Georgia on April 19th-21st for 40 dollars. This is not your usual scouting or OA event, During the annual Conclave, several hundreds of Arrowmen across Georgia and Alabama will come together to partake in shows, games, fellowship, and very insightful training.

At the games, there will be a healthy mix of competitions and a chance to help Mowogo get 1st place in the games as well as the ability to participate in non-competitive and more chill games for your leisure such as a tropical limbo! One unique activity includes the quest where we will help judge the various competitions including the admin and communication, games, and Indian affairs.

For the Conclave shows, there will be amazing Indian Affairs dances and demonstrations and a memorable seaside-themed campfire program! There will also be a special event called Tailypo. The Tailypo festival will have many different carnival-style stands and games to enjoy with your friends. If you are into patches there will also be chances to trade your patch for many cool and rare patches!

Another significant part of Conclave in Paradise is the training! You can learn about Indian affairs drum/dance, the history of the OA, and all about different games and special strategies to get the upper hand. If you would like to focus on personal growth there are special training sessions for you too! Learning about personal skills, how a model lodge/chapter should run, and the ability to meet with people across our section and their unique and tailored tips on how to better yourself as a person.

The current cost of Conclave is 40 dollars but the late fee for Conclave will start very soon on April 1st. Be sure to register for this awesome event and support our Section Chief and Mowogo Brother Jacob Ball at Section E6 Conclave!

I look forward to seeing Mowogo's representation and enthusiasm at Conclave in Paradise!

Yours in Enthusiasm,

Mowogo Lodge - Spring Fellowship 2024, March 15th-17th

Brothers,

As March approaches, our Ordeal Season is about to begin, starting with Spring Fellowship. Spring Fellowship is taking place on March 15th-17th and is arguably the most important event our lodge hosts. It is one of our three Ordeal Weekends, and out of the three, has the most attendance.

Even as an ordeal weekend, Spring Fellowship isn’t all work! There will be awesome games and fellowship that will go on during the day. Each Chapter will bring different games and activities for us to take part in and enjoy. At the games and fellowship, you will have the ability to meet many new people and friends from across the council. Throughout the day there will be patch trading, and even a silent auction to take part. In the evening a campfire will be held with fun skits, songs, and activities from every chapter. Following all this will be a cracker barrel with some of the best desserts, snacks, and time to spend with friends. Ending off the night will be a patch auction which will certainly hold rare patches!

For the Ordeal Arrowmen, there will also be an opportunity to achieve Brotherhood that Friday night.

Even with all the fun and awesome activities, Spring Fellowship is still a service-based weekend dedicated to supporting the wonderful Camp Rainey Mountain and ensuring the camp is in proper condition. Since it is an ordeal weekend there will be several new candidates and we will need many helpers to ensure these candidates have an experience to remember.

Some roles you can have at Scoutland include serving as an Elangomat to help lead the new candidates. This allows you to meet new friends and learn valuable skills in managing service projects. The next date to get Elangomat trained will be at Scoutland, on March 9th. You can also serve on the Indian Affairs team as a ceremonialist or as an Indian Engineer which overlooks the ceremonies. These help teach you public speaking skills and what logistics would be needed for events. Some smaller roles you can hold include working in the dining hall and Trading post, as well as helping out with registration which are very important parts of the weekend.

Spring Fellowship is on March 15th-17th, you can sign up for this great weekend of fellowship and service at Mowogo.org

I look forward to both playing games, and serving with everyone at Spring Fellowship!
