Mowogo Lodge Winter Banquet - January 13th 2024

Good Afternoon Brothers,

As the year gets wrapped up, our next lodge event, the Winter Banquet is quickly approaching. This is an evening event where we celebrate our accomplishments over the year and what we will accomplish in the future all over some delicious food. At the banquet, some things we will experience include the swearing-in of our new officers and the grand reveal of what chapter will get the black bear. This is also a special event because you can bring non-OA members as friends and family to the banquet!

The banquet will be held in the Dining Hall of Camp Rainey Mountain at 4:00 PM, January 13th, and will only be that day.

Registration costs $30 and closes on January 9th. The registration link can be found here.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me following ypt. I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Website Updates are Complete

Greetings Mowogo Lodge,

We have completed a number of website software updates in an effort to keep Mowogo.org current and secure. Thanks for your patience.

Website Look

We were able to use the previous website template, so the look and feel of the site should be very familiar. You will notice a few changes to menus, file downloads, and the registration system.

User Accounts

Though most the previous web user accounts are still active, we began phasing out the individual web user accounts over the past couple of years. All content is now available without password access, including registration for all events, dues payments, etc. All User Profiles are now maintained through LodgeMaster portal accounts. Over the next year we will continue to phase out and remove individual web accounts.

File Attachments

One noticable change is in the way downloadable file attachments are presented. The previous file download system was no longer supported, so this feature had to be moved to a new system. A number of older files that were no longer valid have also been purged from the system. There is now a new menu entry:

Mowogo -> Administration -> File Download Archive

From this menu selection you can now view all files on the site that are available for download by category, including back issues of Arrow Points.

Registration System

The most significant change to the website was the complete replacement of the Mowogo online registration system. Unfortunately the registration software that we have been using for many years is no longer supported, so we have moved to a new registration platform that provides most of the same features. You will find that the event pages and registration forms have a different look, but we have attempted to keep most of the registration flow and required information the same.

One difference is that the registration cart is no longer supported. To allow registration of more than one person with a single transaction, we have gone back to supporting group registration. When you choose to register for an event, you will find 2 buttons - one to register a single individual and the other to register a group of two or more. When registering a group, minimal information must be entered for each group member (name, BSA ID, birthdate, etc.), and then unit and chapter info is requested when entering billing info. It is recommended that the group member handling the billing/payment be entered as the first group member if possible, but this is not required.

2024 Mowogo Events

Currently we only have event registration set up for Winter Banquet, and payment forms for Dues and Transfers. The Lodge Leadership is still working to sort out a few dates and other details for the 2024 season. We will have additional 2024 events open for registration after the holidays.

Mowogo Lodge at the University of Scouting

Brothers,

This upcoming Saturday, the annual University of Scouting is going to take place. This is a day where you can take various fun-filled classes with the purpose of providing experience and leadership that can be used to develop you as a person. The University of Scouting will be held at Osbourne Middle School (4404 Braselton Highway, Hoschton GA 30548) On December 2nd from 9 AM-4 PM.

The University of Scouting is the perfect place if you would like to meet with various people around the council who are willing to both help you hone your leadership skills, as well as provide solutions that you can implement in your own units or chapter. Showing up will also truly hammer in what kind of presence the OA truly has on the council.

For those attending, there are various areas that you can participate in. Firstly, the Order of the Arrow is holding the flag ceremony and we would like some help. If you are willing to help us out with flags then prepare to show up at 8:15 AM with Class A and sash.

Some Order of the Arrow-based classes that might interest you include sitting at the LLDC. This is the training course that our LEC goes through every year. Feel free to sit in on it and observe an LEC meeting as well as some training to prepare for the upcoming year. We also have an OA promotional booth led by Jayce that we recommend you check out as well as an introductory OA class taught by Liam, Addison, and Mr. Schlaf for scouts who are not in the OA. If you have any friends who are not in the OA then be sure to bring up the class to them to learn what our order is all about.

If you are interested in attending the University of Scouting, then be sure to bring Class A, a Sash, a Water bottle, a notebook to take notes with, and a writing utensil. The registration fee is $22 but walk-ins are more expensive at $27. Registration as well as more info can be found here.

I look forward to seeing you attend the University of Scouting with us!
